Preparing for Cosmetic Surgery in Los Angeles

We have developed the followers instructions to make sure you take the best experience possible while at the hospital and during your recovery at home. Please call anyone surgeon if you develop a cold, flu, an elevated temperature or have another illness the day before your surgery. Your surgery may be postponed depending on you symptoms.

You may be given an appointment with an anesthesiologist in the Pre-operative clinic to discuss your anesthesia care. An anesthesiologist is a medical doctor trained in the specialty of anesthesia and painfulness management. The anesthesiologist will review medical history and discuss anesthetic options available. You will be given the opportunity to ask questions and discuss any concerns about your anesthetic. The final decision about anesthesia will be made by you and your anesthesia care team on the day of your operation. The decision will take into account your preference, the type and duration of operating theater, special requirements of your surgeon and mummies checkup condition.

  • Ask the surgeon to explain the benefits, risks, and expectations of the procedure.
  • Discuss what type of anesthesia will be administered and what recovery time is expected.
  • Inform your physician of any medications (over-the-counter or prescription) you are presently taking, as fountainhead as any prior procedures, history of chronic illnesses, and/or allergies you may have.
  • Be sure to stop drinking and eating for the recommended time period before and/or after surgery.
  • Be sure to follow any specific pre-operative bathing, shave, or cleaning instructions.
  • Be sure to discuss any post-key instructions that w1ant to be followed (i.e., changing dressings, post-op medications, surveil-up appointments).
  • Do not wear makeup the day of surgery, including nail polish.
  • Do not wear eye contacts the mean solar day of surgical operation.
  • Parting valuables and jewelry at home.
  • Advise the medical exam staff of dentures or other prosthetic devices you may be wearing.
  • Be sure to arrange all insurance coverage prior to surgery, as many insurance carriers do not cover many types of plastic surgery procedures (particularly cosmetic procedures).
  • Be sure to arrange a ride home after your procedure.
